Amid the carols and decorations, Iraq Christians fear extinction

Iraq: Kidnapped Christian doctor released

A Christian doctor abducted by an armed gang overnight from her home near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul was released on Sunday evening, police said.

In an effort to connect with Israel both spiritually and physically, tens of thousands of Christians across the globe have watched live webcasts of Jerusalem holy sites on the Internet since the free service was launched several months ago, the head of a new Christian on-line broadcast provider said Friday.

Iraq: Kurdish forces confiscating ration cards, weapons from Assyrians

Kurdish soldiers carried out a search operation in Assyrian homes in Mosul between September 15 and the beginning of October, confiscating weapons the families were keeping for protection.

Who’s killing Christians in Iraq?

At least 14 Christians were targeted for killing in Mosul, about 260 miles north of Baghdad, earlier this month, prompting more than 1,300 Christian families to flee what had previously been a safe haven. The Geneva-based World Council of Churches has declared it is against the killings…but cannot bring itself to identify the killers.

Iraq: Kurdish land grabs leave Assyrians dependent on food aid

In the village of Hamzie in northern Iraq, just a half hour drive south of the Iraqi-Turkish border, 23 Assyrian families line up for a package of food aid delivered by the Assyrian Aid Society. Most of them fled from the ethnic cleansing in Baghdad and Basra.

Iraq: Kurdish involvement suspected in attacks on Assyrians in Mosul

The continuing attacks on Assyrians in Mosul have been followed by a string of accusations from different sources claiming Kurdish involvement in the events that has forced 15000 Assyrians to flee the city of Mosul.
